*nod* I've been thinking about this, and how tricky it is in fair representations of disability. I mean, one of the things I think we are all sick of it is the "I couldn't live with that condition" trope. Somebody who becomes disabled and then dies in a tragic, self-sacrificing, and "merciful" ending in which they saved the day for everybody else while ending their own broken existence? We've all seen and read that one far too many times.

And yet a lot of disabilities are eventually fatal. And for that matter, some forms of depression absolutely provoke suicide. So how can you respectfully acknowledge that sometimes disability leads to death without participating in the "the tragic cripple needs to die instead of being around and broken" trope?

I'd be curious to read the story you rec to see how it does with it, except that even thinking about the premise of Supernatural gives me the heebie-jeebies. D: *is a coward*
