I only just now came back to look for more and OH MY GOD this is fantastic. The plot is, as they say, thickening so wonderfully!
I love that Ivan considered and rejected the idea of just going to Gregor -- sad that he feels like Gregor would be "bothered by distant cousins" when it's really a serious problem he's got. But I love so much By's solution.
