I have only one link for today but it is a doozy:

Zero at the Bone: Disability is Not your Analogy

In which one of the authors of The Ethical Slut drops by to get into an argument with the blogger, Chally. I recommend reading all of the comments if you're up for it.

Wait.

Wait wait wait.

Did that Janet person actually write that it's more important to keep words to describe sex than to acknowledge the pain in the word 'Colonized' being used to describe an interaction between two white people and then call the possibility of NOT using that word - crippling?!!!

Not only that, but she thinks that usage of "colonised" is so unproblematic it makes a great example to shore up her argument!

I am not inclined to take ethics advice from this woman.

Oh god, I don't know if I will ever have the energy to read that. I was thinking of buying that book, also. Good thing I never got around to it.

And if that means I value the strength, purity and flexibility of language over the rights of an oppressed group, then I guess I can live with that

Absolutely, but usually they're not quite so blatant about it, sheesh.

That book was problematic for me on so many levels... It's a great book for someone who's never encountered polyamory to read about how two people do it. Sort of. Really it's just not a great book, and it's more about the sex side of being poly than the being poly side of being poly, IMHO.
