If you've always wanted to implement more access at your local con, you may be able to garner some national/author support through these contacts.

I participate there under my wallet name, but I'm definitely more comfortable talking here and on Twitter. I sometimes think I am too radical/activist for that group.

Well, I introduced myself by complaining about people using 'handicapped', so they'll probably figure out where I stand fairly quickly ;)

I don't think you're too radical!

It's always important to speak truth to power, and also address the 700-or-so members who aren't posting but may be reading.

One other person spoke about her "socialist perspective."

The loudness of the right-wingers (and worse) pound down on the spirit of the righteous*. Sing out!

I think that on Twitter and Dreamwidth I feel normal, like I am among friends or people I at least kind of get. A community with some shared standards. On Facebook I'm like, wtf.

It does vary on FB, but mostly I have my fellow UK activists around, so that's not so bad.

Twitter is more the WTF for me, mostly for random UKIP types, or Tories.
