Creating on Crip Time, the restfestfilmfestival.org runs August 15-22, 2024.

It's a by-us, for-us event. They're prioritizing access--including

• low- and zero-cost passes
• wide open schedule encourages attending from bed
• captions (no sign language)
• audio description
• video on demand provides a 7-day window 15-22 August to unlock a screening, and then 7 more days to once unlocked to actually watch it
• content warnings

Purpose

RestFest is more than an annual festival. It is a year-round virtual space created by & for the global Disabled, Deaf, chronically ill, neurodivergent, mentally ill, and/or mad community.

• By hosting virtual gatherings and workshops and screening film/video works by fellow Disabled artists around the world, RestFest aims to show us we are not alone.

• All that RestFest does prioritizes rest, slowness, & care. There is never pressure to get out of bed or look so-called “presentable” to attend events.

• RestFest Film Festival promotes free creative expression by all who are Disabled, Deaf, chronically ill, neurodivergent, mentally ill, and/or mad. The films & video artworks screened are not necessarily about disability or illness.

• Everyone and anyone is welcome to attend, but the essence of RestFest is that it is ultimately by & for the Disability community.

RestFest is organized by Queer, Disabled, chronically ill, neurodivergent, mentally ill, and/or mad identifying artists & care-workers.
