I am still trying to figure out how Chaucer figures into the discussion. ( I find the comments really, really amusing in a trainwreck sort of way.) I. Just. Chaucer? Those calling people on their ableist bullshit are epic though.

Chaucer is one of the first recorded instances of using "lame" as a pejorative to refer to something that was not technically lame.

I really like smallcaps's rebuttal to the accusation of white-knighting, here. That's a derailing tactic I've been seeing a lot of on the internet lately, and ze cut right through that to the heart of the matter.
