There has been some discussion lately about ableism and fanfic challenges, specifically Yuletide, many referencing [personal profile] kaz's October 24th post about Challenges. The are now 99 comments at that post.

Here are a couple of links I've seen from my corner of fandom; feel free to add more in comments if you like. If you would like to use this space to talk about social anxiety issues in relation to online fandom, fanfic challenges, etc, I invite you to comment as you feel comfortable.

When fandom discussions gets heated, ideas and people are often characterized as "insane" and "craaaazy" and "irrational." As someone with mental health issues, I always notice. On a good day I can ignore it. Many times, these words are hurtful and enraging—which puts me in exactly the wrong state of mind to craft a helpful comment.

So I was very impressed with how [personal profile] noracharles deftly raised the issues with "insane" and "irrational" in [personal profile] toft's "long necks, deep holes" post
